How is that function? Do I have to pay a fee to ask for a evlauation of my course to gain a accreditation?
If your MLS is not accredited by any national bodies (like ALA). Then you need to seek for evaluation. Please the followings (Copied from ALA) Dear Job Seeker, Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding an evaluation of your international degree in library and information science. The policy of the American Library Association (ALA) states: "The master's degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association (or from a master's level program in library and information studies accredited or recognized by the appropriate national body of another country) is the appropriate professional degree for librarians." The following countries have been identified as having "formal" accreditation processes and an individual who has received his/her degree from an institution in one of these countries is considered acceptable for employment in the United States. A list of the specific institutions can be found at: United Kingdom Australia New Zealand If you are aware of an appropriate national body within your country of origin who recognizes programs, please provide us with that information. In lieu of such an agency, there are a number of independent agencies in the U.S. which evaluate international credentials. Contact information for several larger non-profit firms is listed below. Please note carefully that ALA cannot recommend a specific agency, nor does the provision of this information in any way imply ALA's endorsement of the results of the evaluation. Since ALA accredit ALIA's maseter course, CSU's master course is recognised as professional degree for librarianship. Grace, is your degree a MLS degree? Is it recognized by any national bodies (like ALIA)? Hope the ALA's statement clear for you to find out answer Tim
Master of Library Science", "MSc in Library Sci", "Master of App Sci (Lib & Info Sci)".... Tim
Dear Tim, Can I ask you a question? Have you ever studied the Master course organised by CSU? Or in other institution? What do you think about the quility of them? Apart from the question of accreditation, what make you think that the course offered by CSU is better than that of HKU? I'm afraid I haveto decide within two weeks, as my Professor phone me earlier and asked whether I've decided yet or not. Thank You.
我讀CSU的Mastre of App Sci (Lib & Info Mgt)係因為我經已完成CSU的Grad Dip of App Sci (Lib & Info Mgt). 要報名讀CSU, 你要有一個CSU's Grad Dip of App Sci (Lib & Info Mgt)或CSU's BA (Lib & Info Sci). 如果唔係, 你要讀起碼三年的Grad Dip of App Sci (Lib & Info Mgt)加十五個月的Master of App Sci (Lib & Info Mgt).
