點解WebSams呢排成日Hang!

    有沒有人可告知我為何WebSAMS近多月成日出現以下問題

    Apache Tomcat/4.0.4 - HTTP Status 500 - No Context configured to process this request


    type Status report

    message No Context configured to process this request

    description The server encountered an internal error (No Context configured to process this request) that prevented it from fulfilling this request.

    而且很慢,print時間表時又經常Hang,學校技術員說Upgrade後就成日出現呢個問題,打電話去WebSAMS支援,只叫reboot server. 九月本校便會將WebSAMs開放給全校老師使用,我身為WebSAMS Admin真的很擔心,請問有沒有改善建議?

    I encounter the same problems... I contacted NCS and they asked me do the houekeeping first... I did the it earlier this week and now waiting to see if it helps.

    I believe the problems started with the 21072005 build of WebSams. After upgrading to the 17082005 build it seems to be slightly better, but there are still occasional hanging problems. I have encountered these problems whenever I attempted to use Interactive Tuning previously. After several reboots of the server I was finally able to use Interactive Tuning. Generating reports in the Timetabling module may also cause WebSams to hang. Curiously there are no such problems in other modules.<br />

    I firmly believe this is a (serious) bug in the Timetabling module. It is unacceptable that the bug was introduced, at the precise time when we all need to use it. I have not taken the time to call NCS because I am fairly certain what they will tell me is to reboot the WebSams server, which I had to do anyway.

    [parsehtml]<P>As you believe this is a serious bug, I think you better to call NCS. The purpose is not asking for help but make them record down the number of cases. Otherwise, when EMB ask them for the case, their answer is that <STRONG>That's a minor problem since only a few number of school reported</STRONG>. We must voice out to improve the system. </P>[/parsehtml]

    The WebSAMS in my school always hangs after upgrading to 21072005 build.&nbsp; It always hangs on Saturday or Sunday.&nbsp; However, I don't believe that it is related to the TTL as our school doesn't use the Interactive Tuning of the TTL.

    我校情況也如是,且從websams domain 以外(包括internet)問題多多。多次向ncs求助,久久都沒有結果,政府應增加資料,提供上門服務,以便能迅速解決問題。我們現在是望天打卦,以boot機渡日。

    自21072005版後本校便有此問題真係整天不停restart 部機,NCS應儘快fix bug

    Exactly, WebSAMS server always hang during weekend... The Timetabling module is never used in my school at all, so I am sure it is not related to the Timetabling module.

    本校的WebSAMS已經升級至最新版本,但印時間表時,印兩三張便Hang機。打電話去NCS,只是留言。下星期三要派時間表,如何是好?

    Even if the Timetable modele is not used, I would suggest rebooting the WebSAMS server at least twice every week. It is better than somebody else discover the server hanged and seek your help. After rebooting, you would find the server respond more quickily. Note: I am using the latest version (1.2.1).

    This is not to improve the system, but to fix the problems of the system. Before the upgrade there had been no such problems at all!

    My school server got the same problem after the upgrade...And now fixed after 3 weeks

    Please check with task manager if rtvscan had been running for a long time and it is consuming most cpu time...

    If yes,  just uninstall and reinstall norton antivirus ..

    BTW. the service of ncs is bad even my school has joined the maintanence services costing more than $3000.

    [parsehtml]<P>Hi all, </P> <P>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Please go and have a check on what version of Norton Antivirus your websams server is installed. For my case, it is corporated edition 7.5. However, I have contacted symantec that they&nbsp;no longer support this version. I discover that whenever the liveupdate program starts, or scheduled scans run, the server seems&nbsp;like 'hanged'. If you check the task manager, you will find that over 90%&nbsp;of CPU time is used by one process (rtvscan is an example). It seems that the way to solve is to upgrade the anitvirus to the latest edition. Meanwhile, try not to use live update program to update the virus definition. Instead, download the file from symantec website to update the virus definition file. I think some school found that the server hanged in weekend because they may have set the autoscan to run in weekend.</P> <P>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; By the way, another question arised. The maintenance fee of the hardware of the Websams network is paid by EMB. How about software? Can we claim from EMB the fee when we renew the licence of software, say antivirus software on server?</P> <P>&nbsp;</P>[/parsehtml]

    Websams server could be restarted because the cpu was totally occupied by the expired nav

    [parsehtml]<P>You may try to download those virus definition files that support corported edition 8.x. It seems it still works. Of coures, I am not sure as Symantec side said they do not support v7.5 any more.</P>[/parsehtml]

    我仲以係媥時間表要大量資料,所以行動緩慢,有時hang機。我take for granted係咁架啦。websams系統,係咁架啦。唯有時不時叫人reboot個server囉。
