The International Association of School Librarianship, IASL http://iasl-online.mlanet.org/ is the platform for school and teacher librarians, school media specialists, teachers and researchers in the field of education, media and information worldwide. Each year it organises an international conference whereby hosting countries rotate over the years.

The 2015-conference will take place in Maastricht, capital of the Province of Limburg and city of international standing, located near the Belgian and German borders, and easily to be reached by train or by plane.

Founded in 1971, the association with some 600 members in over 65 countries offers the most frequented and comprehensive website in the domain of libraries in education. IASL communicates with its members and interested parties through its electronic newsletters and various social media including a public Ning http://iaslonline.ning.com/

An important part of the conference will be devoted to the International Research Forum, launched in 1997. During this Forum new and ongoing research is presented. A major publication channel for research is School Libraries Worldwidehttp://www.iasl-online.mlanet.org/pubs/slw /, the only international peer-reviewed journal on libraries in education.
The Welten Institute of the Open University of the Netherlands http://www.ou.nl/web/welten-institute and Meles Meles School Library Service http://onderwijsmediatheek.nl organise the 44th edition of the International Association of School Librarianship with the theme The school library rocks living it, learning it, loving it!

The executive committee, directors, officers, members and stakeholders of IASL present themselves at this international conference from June 28th - July 2nd, 2015 at the MECC congress centre in Maastricht through keynotes, presentations, workshops, award ceremonies, school visits, social events and an information market. Pre- and post-conference workshops and an online conference are part of the total IASL 2015 event.

The conference aims at the presentation of innovations and the role and position of pupils and students in education, information and media. In addition to presentations, workshops, product reviews, school visits, networking events and attractive social events are programmed. We expect to welcome about 300 Dutch and Flemish participants and 350 participants from other countries. The working language of the conference will be English.

    Sub-themes of the conference:
    • The school library as a space and place: meeting, sharing, discussing. Collaborative learning and growing.
    • The school library as learning environment: 24/7 access to materials, resources, teachers, electronic learning environment and more.
    • The school library as laboratory: experience and discovery in science, arts and media‐education
    • The school library as a window to the world: reading, writing, communicating
